The University of Geneva

The University of Geneva is a multifaceted institution of higher learning, comprises seven Faculties, an Institute of Architecture and a School of Translation and Interpretation. The university offers cutting-edge education in a vast range of undergraduate degree courses as well as specialized education at the postgraduate level.

From the time of its creation in 1559 by Jean Calvin to the recent discovery by University astrophysicists of the first extrasolar planets, the University of Geneva has continued to grow and develop while maintaining its longstanding tradition of excellence with an international slant.  Today, with more than 15,000 students, we are the second largest university in Switzerland, and the first in terms of grants received from the Swiss National Fund for Research. Over the past decade the University has also developed its "continuing education", now offering more than 100 programmes for people in employment.

The international backdrop of Geneva gives the University a unique advantage and places it in the forefront of the world scene. Building on its unique location in Europe the University has continually worked to develop contacts with both international and nongovernmental organizations, a network which we are happy to provide for the benefit of our International Organizations MBA participants and alumni.

The multicultural environment in Geneva is mirrored at the University of Geneva, as one-third of our student body comes from abroad, and we pursue an active policy of fostering the mobility of students, faculty and researchers and establish strategic partnerships for the future through the creation of pan-European as well as international education and research programmes, all of which contribute to the truly international character of our university.
