Faculty & Accreditation


MDC classes are taught by a world-renowned faculty that includes professors from the University of Geneva, prestigious universities and business schools around the world, as well as senior practitioners from business and the IO sector.

The Certificate is run by University of Geneva's business school (HEC-Genève), which is an integral part of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. Successful candidates will be officially certified by the University of Geneva. 


All classes take part within the framework of the International Organizations MBA (IOMBA) programme, which is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and an affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools in International Affairs (APSIA).

   

Curriculum


The MDC offers students 24 courses from three thematic areas. These areas are shared by the IOMBA programme. Each course involves 24 hours of classroom time, and up to four hours of assessment (a variety of methods will be used, such as take-home exams, essays, presentations or class-based exams). To complete the MDC, participants to complete a total of 6 courses, with at least one from each of the three sections.

How many places are available?


Certificate participants will attend the same classes as the IOMBA participants. To guarantee the highest academic standards, and depending on course distribution, about 10 places will be offered for the 2011/2012 intake.

 

Who should apply?


Successful applicants to the Certificate are expected to have:

  • An undergraduate degree and demonstrated intellectual capacity. A good undergraduate degree from a university recognized as equivalent to the standard of the University of Geneva.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience and management potential. Participants should be currently employed and are expected to have a high level of maturity and leadership ability, as demonstrated by their work experience.
  • International exposure and communication skills are highly appreciated. We seek applicants with proven ability to excel in a multicultural setting and with proven fluency in English.



How to apply?

 


Applicants should submit a complete pack (see below) to the IOMBA Admissions Office by 1 August 2011 (for a reduced rate), or anytime during the academic year, one month before the start of the first course they wish to follow.  Depending on availability, individual courses can also be followed.

How much will it cost?

The cost of the full Certificate (six courses) is CHF 12,500.

Depending on availability, individual courses may also be taken, at the rate of CHF 2,500 per course.


When are the classes held?

Classes will take a number of different formats, such as bi-weekly half-day (four hour) sessions, concentrated week-long courses (six hours of class per day), etc. The MDC students will join the regular IOMBA classes; the calendar of the IOMBA Programme will be available two months in advance of the beginning of each Semester. Where are the classes held?

All classes will take place at Chemin de la Voie Creuse 16, just a few hundred metres from the Place des Nations. We encourage you to visit our facilities overlooking Lake Geneva, the Alps, UNOG and the Botanical Gardens, to experience for yourself the learning environment that will be at your disposal.
