Bocconi University and SDA Bocconi School of Management


Bocconi University, founded in 1902, was the first Italian university to grant a degree in economics. For a century, Bocconi has played a leading role in Italy’s social and economic modernization, by remaining true to its founding values of being a major research university, democratic and open to the world, as well as financially and politically independent.
Founded in 1971 by Bocconi University, SDA Bocconi School of Management was first a pioneer in Italy and today enjoys international recognition as a leading management school specialized in programs for executives and professionals. SDA Bocconi dedicates energy and resources to creating value and spreading values in the business and public sector community. Knowledge and imagination are the shared pride and heritage of the faculty, its students, and thousands of alumni around the world. The Public Management and Policy Department (PMP) of SDA Bocconi Business School contributes to the development and dissemination of management knowledge and competencies in public administrations, health authorities, social and non-profit companies through its master programs while supporting public and private management with applied research and instruments for analysis and comprehension of management reforms.


Double Degree IOMBA / Master in Public Management, SDA Bocconi School of Management
The University of Geneva - PMP Department of Bocconi School of Management double degree programme IOMBA and the Master of Public Management (MPM) to prepare individuals for careers as managers, analysts, consultants and policy advisors in government institutions, agencies and businesses closely associated with them. Students develop theoretical practical public management knowledge and skills in a framework that integrates applied public management subjects. The IOMBA /MPM Double degree is a four semester programme, allowing students to choose between two possible tracks depending on their prevailing orientation towards healthcare and public service management or towards development of quantitative and analytical skills for management and public policy.
Double Degree IOMBA/ CLAPI-LS Bocconi University
The University of Geneva - Bocconi University double degree programme in “Management of Public Administration and International Organizations” allows young graduates from Italy and from the rest of the world to be awarded both the International Organizations MBA and the Italian graduate degree, Laurea Specialistica in Economia e Management delle Amministrazioni Pubbliche e delle Istituzioni Internazionali (CLAPI-LS). The IOMBA /MPM Double degree is a five semester programme; students attend the first year at Bocconi University and the second year at University of Geneva. Last semester is dedicated to internship and final thesis.
 

 

Georgetown University -Georgetown Public Policy Institute (GPPI)


Founded in the capital of the United States in 1789, the same year that the U.S. constitution took effect, Georgetown University today is a major international research university that continues to reflect its founding values of intellectual openness, diversity in faculty and staff, and a commitment to searching for the common good.
The flagship degree at Georgetown’s Public Policy Institute (GPPI), the Masters in Public Policy (MPP), combines a rigorous set of analytical and quantitative core courses with required concentration in a specific policy sector (e.g., international development, health policy, environmental and regulatory policy). GPPI is home to four nationally known research centre in the areas of health care, children’s issues, non-profit studies and democratic governance. Its location in Washington offers excellent opportunities for interaction with leading think tanks, international financial institutions, government agencies and NGOs.


Double Degree IOMBA /Master in Public Policy (MPP)
The University of Geneva and GPPI have joined forces to create a dual degree programme designed to prepare tomorrow's leaders for international and non-governmental organizations with a combination of substantive, analytical and managerial skills. Over the course of five intense semesters (28 months), students earn both the IOMBA and Georgetown's Masters in Public Policy (MPP). The dual degree programme includes an internship in Geneva and a masters research project linked to the internship that is completed at Georgetown.

 

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA)


Established in 1961 as an autonomous institution by the Government of India in collaboration with Government of Gujarat and Indian industry, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has, in just four decades, evolved from being India’s premier management institute to a notable international school of management. Many socially sensitive leader-managers committed to excellence in management are among its alumni. The Economist’s “Which MBA? Survey 2004” ranked it among the top hundred B-schools in the world. On some criteria, it was in the top ten, including ”opens new career opportunities”. The Institute’s flagship programme, the two-year post-graduate programme in management was rated as the world’s toughest programme to get admission to by The Economist ”Which MBA? Survey 2001”. The programme also has been rated among the best management schools in the Asia Pacific Region repeatedly. The Institute has established many centre of excellence for research, training, and consulting which include centre for educational innovation; electronic governance; telecom policy studies; management of health services; management in agriculture; innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship; infrastructure and policy research; etc.


Exchange Programme IOMBA/ Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy (PGP-PMP)
The University of Geneva and IIMA have identified a synergetic opportunity of collaboration around the IOMBA at the University of Geneva and the Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy (PGP-PMP) of IIMA. Under this collaboration agreement, up to five students per year from each institution can attend, during a period of three months, mutually agreed upon courses at the host institution, which will count towards their home institution degree. Students will receive an attestation from the host institution for the courses they successfully complete.

 

Yonsei University


As one of the oldest universities in Korea, Yonsei University was first established in 1885. Yonsei has 16 graduate schools, 18 colleges, and 111 subsidiary institutions. With a student body comprised of the top 1 percent of high school graduates in Korea. Yonsei is proud of its long history and reputation as the leading institution of higher education and most international university in Korea.
The Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) at Yonsei University was established in 1987 as a pioneer of professional studies programme in Korea. The founding motivation of Yonsei GSIS was to meet the growing global demand for international academic institutions and to train individuals to become global experts.
In 1997, the Yonsei GSIS earned the distinction of being the ”best graduate school of international studies in Korea” by the Ministry of Education, and was officially certified by the Ministry with the professional school status in November, 1999 in recognition of its global competitiveness and establishment of renowned doctoral programme.

Under this collaboration agreement, GSIS students can attend the first year at GSIS, the second year at Geneva, and be awarded both the IOMBA and the Master in International Studies.

 

National Taiwan University - Department of Political Science


Celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2008, the National Taiwan University was first established as Taihoku (Taipei) Imperial University by the Japanese with two colleges and 60 students. Today, the University has a total of 11 colleges, 54 departments, 96 graduate institutes and 4 research centres with over 33,000 students (including 1,500 foreign students). National Taiwan University is one of the leading comprehensive universities in the Asia Pacific region.
The Department of Political Science was established in 1947, and started to offer Master programs in 1957 and a Doctoral programme in 1967. The Department consists of three divisions: international relations, political theory and public administration. Under the umbrella of the College of Social Sciences, the Department of Political Science has excelled in offering an interdisciplinary approach that combines the study of political science, economics and sociology in the global and local contexts. With a mission to join the theory and practice of this discipline for the betterment of national development and human welfare, the Department has manifested itself being the cradle of numerous national leaders and professional elites.


DOUBLE DEGREE IOMBA / Master of Arts in Political Science (MAPS)
The University of Geneva and the Department of Political Science of the National Taiwan Univeristy developed a dual degree designed to expose young and motivated professionals to top quality management and political science education. IOMBA/MAPS students will approach the environment of International Affairs and International Relations in a holistic way, and will be able to analyze and understand intergovernmental organizations thoroughly, from both political and managerial points of view.

 

Waseda University - Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies


In the year 2007 Waseda University will celebrate the 125th anniversary of its founding by Shigenobu Okuma, scholar and government leader. Waseda is one of Japan's top private, coeducational institutions of higher learning. Founded as a college with three departments under the old system of Japanese higher education, it has grown to become a comprehensive university with two senior high schools and an Art and Architecture School.
The Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies (GSAPS) is the first completely independent graduate school in the 120-year history of Waseda University. The founding principle of GSAPS is the use of an interdisciplinary, global, and local approach to analyzing and understanding the complex political, economic, industrial, managerial, social, and cultural dimensions of the Asia-Pacific region. GSAPS aims to educate professionals who possess a high level of specialized knowledge, but who will also give back to the community and contribute to the further development of human society.

Under this collaboration agreement, GSAPS students can attend the first year at GSAPS, the second year at Geneva, the third year at GSAPS and be awarded both the IOMBA and the MA in International Relations degrees.

 

University of Pittsburgh - Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA)


The University of Pittsburgh is one of America’s most respected teaching and research institutions. Founded in 1787 as a small, private school, it has evolved into an internationally recognized centre of learning and research and is among America’s most distinguished comprehensive universities, with a wide variety of high-quality programs.

Double Degree IOMBA /Master of Public and International Affairs (MPIA) or Master of International Development (MID)
The University of Geneva and the University of Pittsburgh created the IOMBA /MPIA-MID double degree in 2007 to equip students to pursue careers in non-governmental and international organizations, national and international defence and intelligence agencies, departments of state, research centre and global businesses. The IOMBA /MPIA and IOMBA /MID double degrees are each five-semester programs; students will attend the first year at GSPIA following the typical MPIA or MID plans of study, and will complete the entire IOMBA curriculum in Geneva during their second year. Students then return to Pittsburgh to complete the remaining requirements of their GSPIA degree. An internship and a thesis/capstone experience are also required.
