Completed Application Form and Application Fee
The form requests personal information, including contact information, educational and professional background, and international experience.
We strongly encourage candidates to apply online, and offer a discounted online application fee of CHF 75. For paper-based applications, there is a non-refundable CHF 200 application fee. Please note that applications WILL NOT be processed without the fee. Payment can be made via a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit card or by bank wire transfer.
Standardized Test Scores
All applicants must complete the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). As several of the programme's core courses require a high level of quantitative and analytical skills, a high GMAT score or GRE will enhance your chances of being admitted, but a high score does not guarantee admission into the programme and a lower score does not preclude admission. Please note that official results must be sent directly to the IOMBA admissions office from the Pearson VUE (a business of NCS Pearson, Inc. who administers the GMAT® test). If you have already taken the GMAT, we encourage you to enclose a photocopy of your score report with your application package. We will accept GMAT scores that are up to five years old. Our institution code for reporting your GMAT score is 651-QT-72. If you will be submitting a GRE score, please send us the original result as soon as available.
The International Organizations MBA programme is taught in English. Consequently, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score, no older than 2 years, is required of all applicants whose native language is not English, or who did not receive an undergraduate or graduate degree from an institution in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand. A score of 600 on the paper-based exam, 250 on the computer-based exam or 100 on the internet-based exam is required. Informational materials are available from the Educational Testing Service, P.O. Box 6000, Princeton, NJ 08541. You may also request materials via their website at www.ets.org Our institution code for reporting your TOEFL score is 0771. Alternativelly, you may also submit a IELTS score instead of the TOEFL.
Official Transcripts and photocopies of previous degrees
Applicants are requested to enclose photocopies of degrees or diplomas already obtained, as well as official transcripts listing official record of all courses taken and examination grades received, together with the grading scale and an explanation of its meaning. The official transcripts must be sent to the IOMBA Admission office (see address above) in a sealed envelope, directly by the Conferring University. If you were a transfer or exchange student, you must make sure to provide official transcripts from all institutions attended. Please download here the transcript request form to be sent to the University/ies conferring your degree/s.
All international educational credentials and transcripts should be provided both in their original language and with a certified English or French translation.
Reference Letters
To apply for the IOMBA, two references are required. We would prefer that one reference comes from a current or past professor (assessing the applicant’s academic ability to succeed in this program), and that the other reference comes from a professional acquaintance (indicating the applicant’s suitability for international work).
Reference forms can be printed and posted to us (paper-based reference), or saved in .pdf format and emailed to us (electronic reference).
For paper based references, each referee should complete the form, print it, attach any additional comments, seal it in an envelope, sign across the seal, and return the form directly to the applicant for submission with his/her application package. While it is preferred that all references be submitted together as part of an application package, they may also be submitted directly to the IOMBA Admissions Office.
For electronic references, we will only accept reference forms submitted on-line (open Reference Form on-line) or are emailed to us directly by the reference provider. In this case, the reference provider should fill in the form, save it ("save as", please make sure you rename the file to match the applicant’s last name), and email it to the IOMBA Admissions Office iomba@unige.ch
Essays
Your response to the essay questions helps us evaluate your career aspirations and how those objectives match with the unique qualities of the International Organizations MBA programme. We encourage you to give considerable thought in the writing of your essays. Additionally, we ask that you limit your responses to the length that has been indicated.
Statement of Financial Resources
This form must be completed by all applicants. The purpose of this form is to indicate how you intend to finance your studies and to inform us if you are applying for financial aid (Scholarships).
Scholarships are based on a combination of academic merit, financial need, and availability of funds. Additionally, some scholarships may be reserved for nationals of selected developing countries. All applicants who apply by our stage 1 admissions deadline, may be considered for a scholarship. Applicants will be notified if they have been awarded a scholarship upon acceptance to the programme.
